Slimmer jaw, quieter clenching
Your masseter is the muscle at the back of the jaw that does the heavy work of chewing. Relaxing it with Botox, Dysport or Xeomin does two jobs at once: the jawline looks slimmer, and the jaw finally gets to rest.
Jawline slimming
When a jaw looks square or wide, enlarged muscle is often the reason. As the treated masseter relaxes it gradually becomes smaller, and the lower face takes on a softer, more tapered outline over several months — slowly enough that it simply looks like you.
Clenching and grinding
Plenty of people clench during the day or grind at night without realizing, until they wake with a sore jaw. Relaxing the masseter reduces the force behind the habit, easing TMJ tension and that morning ache.

After going through your health history, Dr. Alex, DNP, asks you to clench while she feels the muscle, to be sure the width is muscle that will respond. You will see the plan and the exact cost before treatment starts.

A small number of precise injections into each masseter, with each side dosed separately because few jaws are perfectly even. It takes just a few minutes.

Results
Relief from clenching tends to come first, usually within two weeks. Slimming develops more slowly over the following months, and results generally last four to six months.

It is priced per unit. Because the masseter is a large muscle it needs more units than a forehead line, and the dose often differs between sides. Dr. Alex, DNP, decides it at your consultation after feeling the muscle work, so we do not publish a price that could be wrong for you. You will have the exact figure before treatment.
Will it slim my jaw, or help with clenching?
Often both. Relaxing the masseter lets a square or bulky jaw slim into a more tapered shape, and reduces the clenching and grinding that cause TMJ tension and morning soreness. Not every wide jaw is muscle, so Dr. Alex, DNP, will confirm at your consultation whether yours is likely to respond.
How soon will I see results, and how long do they last?
Most people feel less clenching within about two weeks. Visible slimming takes longer, developing gradually over a few months. Results usually last four to six months — longer than treatment for expression lines.
How many units will I need?
More than for facial lines, since the masseter is big and strong — and the two sides frequently need different amounts. Dr. Alex, DNP, judges each side on the day and starts low; topping up at a follow-up is simple, but units cannot be taken back.
Will it change my smile or how I chew?
Your smile is unaffected — the masseter closes the jaw but plays no part in moving your lips. You will eat as normal, though very chewy food may tire the jaw a little faster for the first few weeks. That is the muscle relaxing, exactly as intended.
Botox, Dysport or Xeomin — which one will I get?
Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are all available in Miami, and each relaxes the masseter in the same way. Dr. Alex, DNP, will suggest the best fit at your consultation; if you have had good results with one before, let her know.
Can I drive myself home afterwards?
Yes, you can drive yourself. Afterwards, keep your head upright for a few hours, avoid pressing or massaging your jaw, and skip strenuous exercise for the day. Any small bumps settle quickly. Bruising is possible, so book at least two weeks before an important occasion.
Can I walk in for masseter Botox?
