Overview
What dissolving actually does
Hyaluronic acid filler can be broken down with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Hylenex® is a purified form of it: placed precisely where the unwanted filler sits, it dissolves the gel so the body can clear it naturally.
People come to dissolving for different reasons: filler that has drifted from where it was placed, lips or cheeks that look heavier than intended, lumps or asymmetry, or simply a wish to start fresh. Filler placed at another practice can be assessed and treated too.
Depending on your case, more than one vial, or more than one visit, may be needed for the best result. Once the area has settled, Dr. Alex, DNP, can talk with you about whether, and how, to rebuild it.

Assessment
Dr. Alex, DNP, reviews what was placed, where and when, and examines the area closely. You hear what she recommends, how many vials may be needed, and the cost at your office.

Treatment
Hylenex® is placed precisely where the unwanted filler sits, using a fine needle. The appointment itself is short.

Aftercare
Some swelling, redness or tenderness is normal and settles over the following days; a small bruise is possible. Leave the area alone and avoid pressing on it.

Review & next steps
Most of the effect is visible within a day or two. At your follow-up, Dr. Alex, DNP, reviews the result and discusses whether a further session, or a fresh plan, makes sense.

Filler dissolving is priced by the vial, and the number of vials depends on how much filler needs dissolving and where. Pricing also differs from office to office. You will have an exact figure at your assessment, before anything is prepared.

Yes. Dr. Alex, DNP, begins with a careful assessment of your previous treatments and current concerns, including filler placed elsewhere, and will tell you honestly what can be done.
How quickly does Hylenex work?
Hyaluronidase starts working quickly, and most of the change is visible within a day or two once initial swelling settles.
Will I need more than one session?
Sometimes. Depending on your case, more than one vial or a second visit may be needed for the best result, and Dr. Alex, DNP, will review the area at your follow-up before recommending more.
Does dissolving work on every type of filler?
Hylenex® dissolves hyaluronic acid filler only. Other products, such as biostimulators, do not respond to it, which is why the assessment of what was placed comes first.
When can I have filler again?
Once the area has fully settled, Dr. Alex, DNP, can talk with you about whether to rebuild it and how. There is no rush: many people enjoy seeing their natural shape again before deciding.
