Overview
What filler actually does
With time, the face quietly loses volume: cheeks flatten, temples hollow, lips thin and shadows deepen around the mouth and under the eyes. Dermal filler replaces what has been lost, or adds a little definition where you have always wanted it, using hyaluronic acid, the same molecule your skin makes on its own.
Filler is planned across the whole face rather than one feature at a time. Lifting the cheek, for instance, often softens the smile lines and the under-eye at the same time, with less product than treating each spot on its own.
Hylenex® may be used to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler after a separate assessment. Dissolving has risks and limitations, and is not suitable for every filler material.

Each area is assessed in proportion to the rest of your face, and filler is built in small amounts, checking the shape as it goes. Dr. Alex, DNP, will tell you honestly which areas are worth treating, and which can wait.
Lips
Lip filler
Volume, shape, or a touch of both. Built gradually — often half a syringe at a time — so lips look like yours on a very good day, never inflated.
Lip borderDefinition
A fine line of filler along the edge of the lip to sharpen its outline and bring back a cupid's bow that has softened with time.
Lip linesSmoker's lines
The fine vertical lines above the upper lip. Smoothed with a soft, low-volume filler so lipstick stays exactly where it is put.
Middle face
Cheeks
Restores the lift the midface loses with age, which quietly improves the under-eye and the smile lines as well. Often the first place Dr. Alex, DNP, will suggest starting.
Under-eyesTear troughs
A delicate, conservative treatment for the hollow between the lower lid and the cheek that reads as tired no matter how well you slept. Not everyone is a candidate, and you will be told so honestly.
Nasolabial foldsSmile lines
The lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Softened directly, or by restoring the cheek above them — whichever gives the more natural result.
Temples
Hollowing at the temples narrows the upper face and drops the tail of the brow. Refilled subtly, it restores a soft contour few people can name but everyone notices.

Chin
Adds projection or length to a chin that recedes, bringing the profile into balance — one of the most transformative treatments for the least amount of product.
Jawline
Defines the angle and the line of the jaw for a sharper profile, and softens early jowling without surgery.
Marionette lines
The lines that run from the corners of the mouth toward the chin and give the mouth a downturned look. Lifted and softened so the resting face reads as content.

Your filler appointment, step by step

Consultation
Dr. Alex, DNP, asks what you notice in the mirror, reviews your health history, and looks at your face as a whole, in proportion. You hear what she recommends, how many syringes, why, and the cost at your office before anything is opened.

Treatment
A numbing cream is applied, and most fillers also contain lidocaine. Filler is placed with a fine needle or cannula in small amounts, checking the shape as she goes. The booking calendar reserves two hours for a filler appointment, including the consultation.

Aftercare
Some swelling is normal, especially in the lips, and settles over a few days; a small bruise is possible. Skip hard exercise and alcohol for the rest of the day, and avoid pressing on the treated areas.

Results & follow-up
The change shows right away and settles as swelling fades, at about two weeks, when a follow-up lets Dr. Alex, DNP, refine if needed. Results fade gradually over six to eighteen months, depending on the area.

Choose your officeHow much does filler cost?
The treatment plan determines how many syringes and which products are proposed. Pricing varies between offices, so your consultation provides the quote for your chosen location. Dr. Alex, DNP, explains the areas being considered and the cost before treatment begins.
What are dermal fillers made of?
The fillers used here are made of hyaluronic acid, a sugar molecule your skin already produces to hold water and keep itself plump. In a filler it is formed into a smooth gel that adds volume and structure where it is placed, and is broken down naturally by the body over time. Sculptra, a collagen stimulator, is the exception — it works by prompting your skin to build its own collagen.
How long do fillers last?
It depends on the area and the product. Lips, which move constantly, typically hold for six to twelve months; cheeks, chin and jawline use firmer fillers that can last twelve to eighteen months or longer. Results fade gradually rather than all at once, so there is never a moment where it suddenly looks gone.
How do you approach natural-looking results?
Facial proportions and your preferences guide the approach. Discuss the degree of change you want, including areas you prefer to leave alone. Conservative placement and follow-up can support a gradual plan, but no specific appearance is guaranteed.
Does filler hurt, and will I bruise or swell?
Filler injections can be uncomfortable even with numbing measures. Bruising and swelling are possible, and their duration differs by product, area and person. Discuss medicines and supplements during the assessment, and ask your prescribing clinician before making any medication changes.
Can filler be dissolved?
Hyaluronidase is used to break down hyaluronic acid filler when clinically appropriate. Before recommending it, Dr. Alex, DNP, reviews the existing filler and explains the risks, limitations and possibility of more than one treatment. Dissolving is a separate procedure, not a guarantee that every filler result can simply be reversed.
Do you treat under-eyes and temples?
Yes, both — as part of a plan for the whole face rather than one spot in isolation. Temples that have hollowed narrow the upper face and pull the tail of the brow down; refilled subtly, they restore a soft, rested contour. Under-eyes are the most delicate area we treat, and the one where candidacy matters most: filler suits a true hollow between the lower lid and the cheek, not puffiness, heavy bags or very thin skin, and lifting the cheek first often does more for the under-eye than treating it directly. Dr. Alex, DNP, will tell you honestly whether you are a candidate.
How should I prepare, and how long is the visit?
Reserve the two-hour filler slot at your selected office and follow the preparation guidance you receive. Have details of prior treatments and your medicines ready for the consultation. Treatment is considered after the assessment; the reserved time includes discussion and preparation as well as any injections.
